【緊急投稿】北別府学
本日、広島東洋カープのエース、北別府学が亡くなった。享年65才。
カープファンの私が最もテレビで試合を見ていたのが、北別府が活躍していた頃。
北別府が勝利投手になることをいつも祈っていた。
コントロールが精密なのは言うまでもないが、贔屓目120％で言わせてもらうと、審判の判定は常に厳しかった。
巨人の槙原寛己が150キロのストレートをアウトローに放り込んでストライクを取ったとする。北別府の場合、その内側かつ上にボール１個真ん中よりに投げてもボールと判定された。
私はテレビを見ながらいつも怒っていた。
現役時代はクールに淡々と仕事をする、超絶職人として崇拝していた。私の中では、彼だけが別格だった。

【Urgent Posting】 Manabu Kitabeppu
Today Mr. Manabu Kitabeppu who used to be an ace pitcher of Hiroshima Toyo Carp, died. He was 65 years old.
When he was active, I, as a huge fan of Carp, watched their baseball games on TV most of the time.
I every time prayed that he could win.
Obviously, his control was ultra-perfect. Although I 100% fully favored him, referees’ calls were always severe.
Hiromi Makihara of Giant threw a 150km/h straight ball to the out-low area and got a strike. In case of Kitabeppu, even if his ball was thrown at 140km/h where it was one ball upper and inner than Makihara’s ball, it was called a “Ball.”
I was angry with its unfair call every time.
During his active play, I respected him as a Master of Professional. He fulfilled his responsibility in a cool and neutral way. He was in a class of his own for me.
I pray for his soul.
